The Purple Letter Campaign was founded in 2011 by two LGBTQ activists, Ryan Clayton and Kaitlin Burnett. It is a province-wide push to lobby the British Columbian government to adopt a sexual orientation and gender identity policy for all schools. On October 20th 2011, the anniversary of the Vigil to End Homophobic Bullying, letters supporting the campaign will be sent to the Premier and the Minister of Education.
The VDSC supports its cause in creating safe, inclusive environments for all students. We are officially endorsing the Purple Letter Campaign, and would like to strongly encourage everyone to send a letter of support to a purple mailbox near you.
